enable_animation=&#8221;true&#8221; animation=&#8221;fade-in-from-bottom&#8221;][vc_column_text]Symetrie delivered a <a href=\"https:\/\/symetrie.fr\/en\/non-magnetic-hexapod\/\">non-magnetic hexapod<\/a> for ion trapping experiments to the <a href=\"https:\/\/equs.org\/quantum-control-laboratory\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Quantum Control Laboratory<\/a> of the University of Sydney in Australia.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>Heavy payload, low profile<\/h2>\n<p>Designed to position a 80 kg payload, this customized <a href=\"https:\/\/symetrie.fr\/en\/non-magnetic-hexapod\/\">non-magnetic hexapod<\/a> is aligning a UHV chamber in the 6 degrees of freedom in order to be collinear with the symmetry axis of the 2 teslas magnet and trap atomic ions.<br \/>\nIt offers travel ranges of 10 mm in translation and 4\u00b0 in rotation while having a very low profile: its height is only 155 mm in mid position.<\/p>\n<h2>High repeatability, non-magnetic<\/h2>\n<p>Benefiting from Symetrie\u2019s fifteen years of experience in the development of high precision parallel robots, this non-magnetic hexapod provides repeatability of \u00b1 0.6 \u03bcm at the pivot point, which is here 600 mm away from the hexapod and where the ions will sit.<br \/>\nTo be compatible with the 2 teslas static magnetic field in immediate proximity and reach high precision performances, ultrasonic non-magnetic motors and absolute linear encoders have been integrated.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/sydney.edu.au\/science\/physics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">School of Physics<\/a> at the University of Sydney is one of the leading Physics departments in Australia.
