What is a motion hexapod?
A motion simulation hexapod is a precision robot consisting of six linear actuators acting in synchrony to position the moving table in 6 degrees of freedom. Its amplitude can reach several tens of centimeters and up to 40°, while supporting loads of several tons. Unlike conventional serial architectures, the hexapod is based on a parallel structure, giving it high rigidity, stability and repeatability in six degrees of freedom: 3 translations Tx, Ty, Tz and 3 rotations Rx, Ry, Rz. Thanks to its six synchronized actuators, this system reproduces complex trajectories and realistic loads with great fidelity.
Motion hexapods are designed to simulate dynamic phenomena such as vibrations, accelerations, jolts or navigation-type movements, which are found in applications such as flight simulators, naval simulators, on-board tests or stability tests.
