Big Science Business Forum 2026
High-precision positioning solutions for major scientific infrastructure projects
Come and meet our experts and discover SOLANO, our ultra-compact hexapod, at stand A062
Symétrie will be taking part in the Big Science Business Forum (BSBF) 2026, a European event bringing together industrial and scientific stakeholders involved in major research infrastructures. These facilities – such as synchrotrons, particle accelerators and large scientific instruments – require mechanical systems capable of ensuring the precise and stable positioning of high-tech components and equipment.
Symétrie’s hexapods meet these requirements thanks to their ability to simultaneously control six degrees of freedom. They enable alignment, adjustment and positioning operations to be carried out with high precision, whilst adapting to the integration constraints specific to each facility.
SOLANO: precision in an ultra-compact design
At our stand, come and (re)discover SOLANO, a hexapod designed for applications requiring a minimal footprint and extremely high-precision positioning. With a height of just 104 mm and a diameter of 120 mm, it is easy to integrate into scientific equipment where space is limited.
With a resolution of up to 50 nm, it is particularly well suited to applications requiring extremely fine adjustments.
Examples of applications
• Alignment and adjustment of optical and photonic components.
• Positioning of sub-assemblies within scientific instruments.
• Integration of components into metrology benches and experimental set-ups.
• Precision adjustment of equipment for research infrastructures.
Come and meet our experts at stand A062
Our teams will be on hand to discuss your projects and explore positioning solutions tailored to your mechanical, metrological and integration requirements.
We look forward to welcoming you at stand A062 at BSBF 2026.
FAQ
What kinds of movements can the Symétrie hexapod perform?
The hexapod can perform combined movements based on its six degrees of freedom: three translations (X, Y, Z) and three rotations (Rx, Ry, Rz). This flexibility allows for complex adjustments that are impossible with conventional guidance systems.
What is the accuracy or resolution of the movements?
Our hexapods achieve resolutions on the order of 0.1 µm for translations and a few microradians for rotations. Repeatability is one of our strengths, ensuring the accuracy of every positioning operation.
What materials are used to build the hexapod?
We use high-performance materials such as anodized aerospace-grade aluminum, stainless steel, and components specifically designed for demanding environments (vacuum, cleanroom, non-magnetic).
Is it compatible with various software programs or control systems?
Absolument. Nous fournissons des bibliothèques de fonctions (SDK) compatibles avec LabVIEW, C++, Python, ainsi que des interfaces spécifiques pour les environnements de recherche comme EPICS ou TANGO.
Is the hexapod safe for use in laboratories or industrial settings?
Safety and reliability are at the heart of our design. The software includes configurable travel limits, virtual collision detection, and hardware safety features to protect your equipment and samples.
