Space Tech Expo Europe 2026
Precision positioning solutions for space technologies
Come and discover SOLANO, BORA and PUNA at our booth L37 in Hall 5
Symétrie will be taking part in Space Tech Expo Europe 2026, the European event bringing together manufacturers and suppliers of technology for the space sector.
From satellite development to the integration of scientific instruments, space projects impose particularly high demands in terms of precision, stability and repeatability. The assembly, alignment and qualification phases require equipment capable of positioning optical and mechanical components with a high degree of motion control.
For over twenty years, Symétrie has been developing bespoke hexapods and positioning systems to support the most demanding scientific and industrial projects. Their six-degree-of-freedom architecture allows the position and orientation of equipment to be adjusted simultaneously, whilst meeting the specific constraints of each integration and test environment.
SOLANO, BORA and PUNA: three solutions to discover
At our stand, we will be showcasing SOLANO, BORA and PUNA, illustrating different approaches to precision positioning.
SOLANO stands out for its ultra-compact design and resolution of up to 50 nm. BORA and PUNA round off this showcase of our positioning solutions, offering integration options tailored to a range of industrial and scientific requirements.
Examples of applications
• Alignment of optical components and instrument sub-assemblies.
• Calibration and integration of instruments for satellites and scientific missions.
• Precision positioning for measurement and characterisation test benches.
• Functional testing and qualification of space equipment on the ground.
The specifications of each hexapod can be tailored to the load, space, precision and environmental constraints specific to the project.

FAQ
What kinds of movements can the Symétrie hexapod perform?
The hexapod can perform combined movements based on its six degrees of freedom: three translations (X, Y, Z) and three rotations (Rx, Ry, Rz). This flexibility allows for complex adjustments that are impossible with conventional guidance systems.
What is the accuracy or resolution of the movements?
Our hexapods achieve resolutions on the order of 0.1 µm for translations and a few microradians for rotations. Repeatability is one of our strengths, ensuring the accuracy of every positioning operation.
What materials are used to build the hexapod?
We use high-performance materials such as anodized aerospace-grade aluminum, stainless steel, and components specifically designed for demanding environments (vacuum, cleanroom, non-magnetic).
Is it compatible with various software programs or control systems?
Absolument. Nous fournissons des bibliothèques de fonctions (SDK) compatibles avec LabVIEW, C++, Python, ainsi que des interfaces spécifiques pour les environnements de recherche comme EPICS ou TANGO.
Is the hexapod safe for use in laboratories or industrial settings?
Safety and reliability are at the heart of our design. The software includes configurable travel limits, virtual collision detection, and hardware safety features to protect your equipment and samples.
